Uber Eats serves millions of customers worldwide. Need a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift? (tut tut, should’ve ordered that months ago…) Fancy a takeaway? Want the big shop delivered? These small reminders and nudges come in really handy when you’re busy doing life, in the form of push / in-app notifications and emails. They’ve saved me a fair few times.
My role as Copy Lead was to review, edit and approve copy for Uber Eats’ push / in-app notifications and email marketing comms to global customers. They were all written in Global English.
I was responsible for making sure copy was in line with the client brief, adhered to Uber Eats’ legal, regional and tone of voice guidelines, was within character count (try writing snappy copy with ALL the campaign bells and whistles and ‘T&Cs apply’ in 20cc, I’ll wait) and worked closely with the in-house copy and design teams (based in the UK & Canada) to make sure our worlds blended as beautifully as a fresh, hot dish of goodness delivered to your door. I’d then present ‘Round 1’ to the client and provide rationale for our copy choices.
Sometimes, campaigns would cross-over with Uber’s other offerings, like rides. We’d use personalisation to speak to customers at important times in their customer journey so our key messaging is more likely to resonate… and convert.
I also directly managed a dream team of creative writers across the Uber account.
