Netflix and chill? Safe to say I did not chill when I was offered a key role on this account. A total ‘pinch me’ moment as a gold medal bearing Netflix-and-chiller.

I was a Copy Lead and synopsis writer specifically for global Netflix original content. Your Selling Sunsets, your Love is Blinds. A love for reality TV actually does come in handy. The synopsis tells you what a title (film / series / documentary) is about. They need to sound interesting enough for audiences to click through and watch. For Netflix originals, we’d write about x7 synopses for every title. Each one must not repeat the other, they must touch on the plot in different ways and give zero spoilers. And of course, they’re very limited in character count.

From digesting a client brief, to watching a title (yesss, I got to watch these before the world did) and jotting notes, to writing creative synopsis variants (the hard bit), to client feedback and management, to publishing the final copy… the creative process was thorough and difficult. But the most exciting creative challenge ever, and one I completely ran with.

I was also an editor across the account, reviewing work from talented copywriters to make sure it was within Netflix’s brand guidelines and tone of voice. BTW, if you see em dashes in the copy below and think “AI” please do not, they just really love using them and it adds a bit of draaaama.
