Original published poetry & spoken word.
I’m a published poet and I regularly perform my spoken word poetry around the North West, UK.
Writing poetry has really helped with my copywriting, and vice versa. When I’m writing copy, I read it aloud, I notice how it flows, and I make sure that the words being used are the words needed. Similar to writing poetry. Every word has a purpose. Poetry is a form of storytelling and I’m trying to make my words resonate with an audience. Just like writing copy. And I can’t help but notice that spoken word poetry is becoming more popular with audiences today, even featuring in TV, radio & YouTube advertising.

The Wordarium, Lancaster: I headlined my first show (30 minute set) in December 2022.
My hero, Benjamin Zephaniah, invited me to perform a set for his class in 2015, one year after I graduated…from his class!
I performed my anti-bullying spoken word poem on BBC Radio Lancashire in April, 2015.
I’ve also somehow become a Wedding Poet among my friends… I’ve performed at two of my friends’ ceremonies now. Poetry written especially for them, about the things they love - and the people they love. A huge honour for me (and an easy wedding gift).
I keep listening to songs that remind me of you.
Melodies on repeat
that make my heart skip an extra beat,
that keep me in my emotions,
my poetry in motion,
my goosebumps on a standing ovation,
it's devotion.
I have a playlist for you,
that orchestrates my days with you,
that keeps my memories in tune,
my body in groove,
my feelings true.
You are the pictures vivid
when I close my eyes to relive it.
Heavenly sounds
keep my feet to the ground,
keep me in touch with sound,
keep my fingers bound
to imaginary keys I play.
Like the theme song to the outline of your angelic face.
And I play, and play,
like I am a maestro and you, the band,
and I beat the drums that pound
to your symphony.
My memory, so clear,
like strings to a bow with delicate strokes.
You are my favourite song,
that I could listen to all day long.
